Hamburger Burger Tasting - Part I
After our visit to Edelsatt it became clear to us that there are many fancy burger restaurants out there, and that it would be a shame, and frankly unprofessional, if we didn’t expand our horizons and failed to explore the topic further. So join us while we indulge in our grand burger tasting deluxe, where we find out what the best burgers in town are, from the patty to everything in between the bun.
We know the times ahead will be tough. It will be a difficult challenge as carefully grilled patties, perfectly spiced sauces, and fluffy buns are waiting to be devoured.
Still, we aren’t here for fun. It’s a difficult job, and someone has to do it.
Otto`s Burger
The small but nice burger restaurant is located near the University of Hamburg, featuring a comfortable terrace that heightens the burger experience when the weather is favourable. The service is super nice, attentive, quick and obliging, and pleasantly stands out due to their casual manner.
The burgers are simply fantastic. Honey B's meat is perfectly juicy, and the flavour is rounded off with the baby spinach and peanut honey sauce.
The classic Otto’s Burger is also a culinary delight. The pickled onions and the homemade Smokey Mayo give the burger its special oomph to differ from the standard cheeseburger.
The same goes for the Crispy Chicken which doesn't lack in anything with its own breading, aioli and homemade gherkins. The buns (fresh from the baker) are crispy on the outside, nicely fluffy on the inside and allow for a nice handhold.

The Quinoa Burger, a daily special, offers another great alternative. We had Coleslaw as a side, an ingenious variation with a kick due to the addition of mint and red onion.
Otto’s offers homemade ice teas as a small refreshment, showing the same refreshing combinations here as in the rest of the menu. The Rosemary & Lemongrass and the Mango & Ginger ice teas were true thirst-quenchers.
Be careful with the shakes though! If you've already eaten your meal, you should think twice about ordering one: They are massive and could tip you over the edge.
In conclusion: During this tasting it was quite difficult not to immediately chomp into everything, which made our work effort rather, shall we say, “sloppy”. But no worries! Your heroes of all that is good in the world have learned from their mistakes and will restrain themselves next time. ;-)
